01. IT STARTED WITH SHOES
For founder Lars LaLa, shoes have always been more than something we wear.
As a fashion journalist with a particular fascination for footwear, Lars began researching the relationship between shoes, fashion and the way we preserve the things we value.
What he discovered was an idea that had existed for centuries.
02. AN OLD IDEA, REIMAGINED
We have been protecting and transforming our shoes for centuries.
From medieval pattens that lifted delicate shoes above muddy streets, to the extraordinary chopines of Renaissance Venice, and later carriage boots and galoshes, people have long created objects worn over their shoes to protect them, transform them and extend their life.
So Lars LaLa takes this historical idea and reimagines it for today.
03. TRANSFORM DON'T REPLACE
Around 23.8 billion pairs of shoes are produced globally each year. Around 90% of footwear ultimately ends up in landfill.
We believe one answer can be surprisingly simple: fall in love with the shoes you already own again.
So Lars LaLa heel jewels transform an existing pair while helping protect one of its most vulnerable parts, the heel. One shoe. Another identity. A reason to wear it again.
04. THE NEW CRAFT
Designed through technology. Finished by hand.
Each heel jewel is made to order in France, 3D printed using recycled materials, then individually assembled, painted and finished by hand.
Technology allows us to create the form. Human hands give each piece its character.
